The Body Project is an ongoing dialogue between different artists, their work and its focus on the body. Through this multi-year project, we aim to make changing perspectives regarding the body visible and discussable by using the body as an instrument, object, and as performative material. In the jewelry world, where all three of us come from, the body is rarely the center point, but serves primarily as a “carrier” of the jewelry. We want to recontextualize jewelry by questioning its relationship to the body as a framework, and by questioning and revealing the relationship between the body and the object. The Body Project approaches the body from various perspectives such as: Culture, Identity, Objectification, Dehumanization, Power Structures, Social Engineering, The Repressed Body, The Future Body (Posthumanism), The Superfluous Body (Robotics), The Vulnerable Body, The Inner Body.
The curated participants are selected by THE BODY COLLECTIVE: Anke Huyben, Chequita Nahar, Katja Prins.
